What Korean visitors report
🔎 Last checked · August 2026Korean-language visitor reports carry details that English guides do not — what is still standing, what closed, and what the walk from the car park is actually like. We read them and summarise the facts here.
- Closing time is seasonal, and it matters
- The gate closes at 18:00 through November to February. Since the crater rim walk takes 20–30 minutes each way and the last admission comes before closing, a late-afternoon arrival in winter can leave you looking at the entrance rather than the view.
- The price is per person, not per family
- ₩5,000 for adults, ₩2,500 for teenagers, children and serving soldiers. Groups of ten or more pay ₩4,000 and ₩2,000. Cheap by Jeju attraction standards.

Visiting tips
The name means Sunrise Peak for a reason — the classic visit is a pre-dawn climb to watch the sun come up over the crater rim. In late March–mid April, the fields between the parking lot and the shore bloom with canola flowers, recreating the drama’s most famous shots.
At the base, the Seongsan haenyeo (women divers) perform a demonstration most afternoons and sell fresh seafood right off the rocks — the same diving tradition central to When Life Gives You Tangerines.
What’s nearby
Seopjikoji cape is 10 minutes away by taxi, and Udo Island — a frequent drama and film backdrop itself — is a 15-minute ferry from Seongsan port. Together they make the standard east-Jeju drama day.
